What is the California Reading List? The list matches students to books based on their performance on the Stanford 9 Achievement test.

Where can I find a list number? Look in the lower left-hand corner of the home report.

What is a Lexile Measurement? The Lexile Measurement is a unique tool that helps forecast the ability of a reader to achieve success with a text. Because the Stanford 9 Achievement test was linked to this measurement, a score could be determined that matches a child's reading ability with books that provide just the right amount of challenge.

How does this improve reading? When children read at a level that is neither too challenging or too easy, they gain confidence and control over the material. Combined with access to high quality books like those on the California Reading List and the guidance of those who care for them,, the motivation to read and achieve remains high.
